Ann's Night of Noodles
As the seasons shift and the air grows crisp, I always find myself craving a bowl of warm noodle soup. It’s not just food, it’s comfort, memory, and the feeling of being cared for.
In Laos, noodle soups like Khao Piak Sen, Khao Poon, and Pho Lao aren’t just everyday meals; they are the dishes families gather around, the ones that soothe us when we’re sick, and the flavors that remind us of home no matter where we are.
With A Night of Noodles, I want to share that same sense of comfort and connection with our guests. This event is about more than just five courses, it’s an invitation to slow down, wrap yourself in a blanket, and let each bowl of noodles warm you from the inside out. It’s about creating a communal moment, where people gather outdoors under the fall sky, steam rising from their bowls, and feel both the coziness of the season and the generosity of Lao hospitality.
For me, this dinner is deeply personal. These are my favorite noodle soups, the bowls I return to again and again when I need grounding or joy. Hosting this event outdoors at Khaluna’s patio reflects the way food meets the seasons: fall brings crisp air and changing leaves, and in response, we bring broth, noodles, and warmth.
I see A Night of Noodles as both a celebration and a comfort. A celebration of Lao culinary tradition, and a comfort for anyone who joins us that night. My hope is that guests leave not just full, but embraced, as if they’ve been welcomed into my own home for a meal that carries both history and heart.
